Opened for play in 1995, it was immediately recognized by the popular Italian magazine "Il Mondo del Golf" as the best new golf course in Italy, and it has been building an international reputation as one of the finest in Italy. It was recently selected by "Condè Nast Traveller" for its "Hot List" as "The best Golf Club", ahead of the likes of the K Club in Ireland and the Greebrier in the USA.

The course is 6.397 meters long, 5.091 from the Ladies Tees, and 6.519 meters or 7.139 yards from the Championship Tees. A further 9 holes are due to be constructed shortly. There are extensive practise facilities, with a Driving Range complete with shaded driving bays and separate Putting and Pitching Greens. Golf Carts and Clubs are available for rent.

The Course is open all the year round, seven days a week. A PGA Academy Professional is available for private lessons.

Poggio dei Medici has been the home of the Ladies Italian Open from 1999 to 2003, on the professional Ladies European Tour; winners have been : 1999 Samantha Head, UK; 2000 Sophie Gustafson, Sweden; 2001 Paula Marti, Spain; 2002 Iben Tinning, Denmark; 2003 Ludivine Kreutz, France.

Le Pavoniere Golf Club

The wonderful landscape of Le Pavoniere makes this a lovely course to play. The Arnold Palmer designed course features hazards that are cleverly brought into play. The fairways are slightly rolling, and the course is surrounded by holm-oak woods, cluster pines and cypresses. Very long fairways and undulating greens are the features of the course. One of the most difficult holes is the 18th, a dog-leg to the right of over 400m, where you can reach the green in two ways: play it safe with two strikes, laying up in front of the lake, or by taking a long drive over the lake and to the right, in order to reach the green more easily with the second shot.
