In a valley high above Bangi, Bukit Unggul Country Club offers some of the most spectacular sceneries and golfing in the Klang Valley. Carved out of the natural terrain of valleys and hills, it is as unique as it is eco-friendly, with the management imposing strict rules so as not to harm the rainforest surrounding it.
Teeing off early in the morning is a superb experience as the cool mist descends into the valley. Even the afternoon sun is not as harsh here, thanks to Bukit Unggul's altitude. Maintenance has also done a good job of the greens and fairways.
Bukit Unggul's most picturesque hole is Hole 10, dubbed the waterfall hole. This par-5, 476m from the blue tee, plays to a dogleg left. Tee off in front of a beautiful waterfall into a blind drop. The approach shot offers the spectacular sight of slightly elevated greens surrounded by a ring of trees.
The club's signature hole is at 375m, par-5, Hole 11; a breathtaking play through a jungle valley with a series of decks and ridges leading to the green. The putting surface is undulating and a bunker eagerly sits in wait of hooked approach shots on the left. Par is an excellent score on this hole.
This course is just perfect for those who want a challenge. Beginners may lose a lot of balls, but the scenery and setting is a boon. Bukit Unggul's other facilities include the nine-hole night golfing, a pro-shop and putting green.
